The newest technology in Sat Nav devices is providing lots of companies with information they previously could only dream about. Previously most GPS or Sat Nav devices could give a driver information about their speed, geographical location, direction etc. New GPS tools however are a great deal more powerful and can send this information out to a receiving computer anywhere on earth, which is pretty neat. Speeding. Operators can now see the speeds of the vehicle as well as the person driving. The intensity of the breaking and acceleration of the vehicle can also be monitored on some models. This is great for reducing poor driving standards among the fleet and promoting safe practice
Petrol. Stats released by Jump The Sun show that drivers, especially in the taxi business, would claim petrol money from their employers for miles that were covered whilst not on work hours. Employers could previously look at the tachometer of the vehicle but drivers would argue that they had to take a longer route due to traffic etc. Now however, there can be no arguments as employer can see the exact route drivers took, when they took it and at what speed. They can even pick up traffic reports
Location. Drivers can get to a new location much faster and more efficiently when their locations are mapped by a central operator. The operator can simply contact the driver who is closest to a destination by seeing where they are on a live map, saving a great deal of phoning back and forth between the team.
