So you finally decided to sell your motorbike. Your local dealer will most likely not give you much money for it, it’s a known fact. eBay is where your motorbike will have the greatest exposure and probably more buyers then in your local paper. If you follow these basic steps you’ll sell your motorcycle in no time and hopefully for a decent amount of money.

FIGURE OUT THE MINIMUM PRICE FOR YOUR MOTORBIKE

First, figure out what is the minimum amount of money you’d be happy to get for your motorcycle. Of course, you need to know the blue book value of your motorcycle in order to answer that question. The internet is a great resource for finding out how much your motorcycle might be worth.

MOTORBIKE REPAIRS

This is an obvious thing, but many people don’t do it. Wash your motorbike and shine it – make it look like new. Make those wheels shine. Clearly the better your hog looks, the more attractive it will be to buyers. Affordable repairs you can carry out yourself are a great cost effective way of making your bike even more desirable. The time you’ll spend on this will be well paid off later.

PREPARE MOTORCYCLE DESCRIPTION AND FACTS

Write a good description for your bike. The description will based around the most essential facts: Year, Brand, Model, Mileage, VIN, Engine size, Type and Color. It will also include the motorcycle’s history. Make sure you tell them if you are the first owner, how long you’ve had it for, any major accidents It has been in (this will most likely decrease the value of your motorcycle, but you’ve got to be honest about these things), whether you have the title or not.

Always describe any major or minor scratches or dents. Letting buyers know what they are potentially buying will highlight that you are not out to make a quick buck, making them more confident in you as a seller. If you were in the same position you would want to know was much as possible about your purchase?

PHOTOGRAPH YOUR MOTORBIKE

A good picture is worth thousand words. A well considered (or maybe even striking) photo can really help boost the amount of bids you receive. A good photo will attract more bids and therefore increase the final sale price. You need to take many good photos, not just one. Photos provide buyers with added confidence in the seller and ultimately in their bidding and purchase behavior.

CREATING AN EBAY LISTING

Since eBay buyers can’t look at your motorbike, make sure your listing looks great and appealing to any potential buyers. You could have a great motorcycle on eBay auction and still not receive a good amount of bids. This may not be because the bike does not sell well but purely based on a poor listing.

Your description prepared earlier with the motorcycle pictures will be the basis for your eBay listing. eBay provides an easy form for adding a listing. However, if you’ve never done it before, this process could take lots of your time and could cost you lots of money if you don’t do it right.

FIGURE OUT eBAY LISTING OPTIONS

If your main objective is to sell your motorcycle quickly, add the BuyItNow option with what you think would be a good price for your bike, which might be a little below the blue book value. You should know it by now since you’ve already done your research for your motorbike blue book value (process described in the first step).

If your main objective is to sell it for a high price and you don’t care that much about how quickly it sells, set it at a low starting price to start with (let’s say $1), but set a Reserve Price to the minimum dollar amount you’d agree to sell it for.

SHIPPING OPTION

You will need to consider motorcycle transport. Don’t limit your motorbike auction to “local pickup only”. If you set your listing as local pickup only you are in fact limiting the amount of potential buyers to the radius of your local area, which can have have a negative effect on the final sale price. Make sure you clearly state how you will agree to ship the bike, what are the options and whose responsibility it will be upon the auction end. Often, sellers will pass that responsibility on buyers by simply indicating in the listing that “Buyer is responsible for vehicle pickup or shipping.” They can then simply organise delivery with a suitable courier.

So you finally decided to sell your motorbike. Its well known that most dealers will not offer a fair price to take your bike off your hands. eBay is where your motorcycle will have the greatest exposure and probably more buyers then in your local paper. If you take the following steps into consideration you can expect to sell your motorcycle without any major hiccups.

WHAT IS YOUR MOTORBIKE WORTH

First, figure out what is the minimum amount of money you’d be happy to get for your motorbike. To work this out you will need to locate the blue book value of your motorcycle. The internet is a great resource for finding out how much your motorbike might be worth.

MOTORBIKE REPAIRS

This is an obvious thing, but many people don’t do it. Wash your motorcycle and shine it – make it look like new. Make those wheels shine. Clearly the better your hog looks, the more enticing it will be to buyers. Make any affordable repairs to make the bike more desirable to potential buyers – fix that cracked taillight. You will thank yourself later for the time spent preparing your bike.

PREPARE MOTORCYCLE DESCRIPTION AND FACTS

Write a good description for your bike. The description will based around the most essential facts: Year, Brand, Model, Mileage, VIN, Engine size, Type and Color. It will also include the motorbike’s history. Make sure you tell them if you are the first owner, how long you’ve had it for, any major accidents It has been in (this will most likely decrease the value of your motorcycle, but you’ve got to be honest about these things), whether you have the title or not.

One photograph will not be enough to convert a potential buyer – you need several great photographs to do your auction justice. Photos are an absolute must for any vehicle sold on eBay as it is the most trusted source that a potential buyer has besides your own written description.

PUTTING IT ON EBAY

Since eBay buyers can’t look at your motorbike, make sure your listing looks great and appealing to any potential buyers. Often great items on eBay do not attract many or any bids. This may not be because the bike does not sell well but purely based on a poor listing.

Your description prepared earlier with the motorbike pictures will be the basis for your eBay listing. Listings can be easily created on eBay using their specially created form. Unless you have experience with the form, you may find yourself scratching your head, which will take up unnecessary amounts of time.

FIGURE OUT eBAY LISTING OPTIONS

If your main objective is to sell your motorbike quick, add the BuyItNow option with what you think would be a good price for your bike, which might be a little below the blue book value. You should know it by now since you’ve already done your research for your motorbike blue book value (process described in the first step).

MOTORCYCLE TRANSPORT

You will need to considermotorcycle transport. Don’t limit your motorbike auction to “local pickup only”. Limiting to local pickup will greatly reduce your potential buyer universe, which would potentially reduce your final sell price. It is important to clearly highlight what you intend the shipping method to be – you do not want a confused buyer once the auction is over. It is at the sellers discretion to leave the job of shipping and delivery to the winning eBayer, but if this is the case this should be stated from the beginning.” They can then simply organise delivery with a suitablecourier.

However, if you’ve never done it before, this process could take lots of your time and could cost you lots of money if you don’t do it right.

FIGURE OUT eBAY LISTING OPTIONS

If your main objective is to sell your motorbike quick, add the BuyItNow option with what you think would be a good price for your bike, which might be a little below the blue book value. You’ll already have this information at hand if you went through the earlier process of finding out your motorbike’s blue book value.

Nearly everyone here in the UK must have been to at least one car boot sale but why on earth do people go to these things on a regular occassion? What is the real reason for people going to these very poor events, is it the need for a bargain or your Gran dragging you around it?

Are these car boot sales all dying out or are there still many people who go to them every week? The honest answer here is that it is up to you. Believe it or not there are some positives to be had by going to one of these sales.

Reason 1

You could really pick up a few bargains when you attend one of these sales. A lot of the time the people selling their items have no idea if it is worth any money which is why you should always be looking for those really nice antiques. You can quite often pick up really cheap DVD’s and Video Games for yourself and there are programs on television aimed at looking for cheap antiques in a car boot to sell at auctions for a large profit.

Reason 2

You could always be very nice to your gran by taking her things that she buys for the nutters at the car boot. Perhaps if you are lucky you may get 50p at the end of it, oh to remember the days in which 50p was a lot of money.

The Bad Things

Reason 1

The thing is that these sales do not really sound too legal, scruffy looking people selling things from the back of their cars, hmmm? It sounds like something the law should be getting involved in.

Reason 2

In a lot of cases you cannot tell if the item works until you get it home. This is even more important when it comes to things like DVD’s as you will have no chance to see if it works until you get home by which stage you cannot return it.

So if you are thinking about being one of these sellers it could be worth looking into Audi leasing or Van Leasing to make sure you have the room for all the junk. Car leasing is also something else you could look into.

Nearly everyone here in the UK must have been to at least one car boot sale but why on earth do people go to these things on a regular occassion? Is it because many people cannot resist a bargain hunt or is it because you get dragged around it on a Sunday morning by your Nan?

Are these car boot sales all dying out or are there still many people who go to them every week? The honest answer here is that it is up to you. There are actually some decent reasons to be going to one of these sales.

Reason 1

The thing is there are sometimes decent bargains to be found here. The reason is that most people have no idea on how their things are worth and some of these are actually worth a bit of money which is why you should always haggle people for the prices. You can quite often pick up really cheap DVD’s and Video Games for yourself and there are programs on television aimed at looking for cheap antiques in a car boot to sell at auctions for a large profit.

Reason 2

Be nice to your granny and allow her to take you around the weirdo’s that sell their things from the back of their car. Carry the junk around for her and there might well be 50p in it for you.

The Bad Things

Reason 1

It does all sound like it is a con doesnt it, scruffy looking people selling you second hand stuff from the back of a car? It sounds like something the law should be getting involved in.

Reason 2

In a lot of cases you cannot tell if the item works until you get it home. The problem is that when you are getting some like a DVD you cannot test to see if it is working until you arrive back home which means you cannoy return it.

So if you are thinking about being one of these sellers it could be worth looking into Audi leasing or leasing vans to make sure you have the room for all the junk. Car leasing is also something else you could look into.
